The Aluminum Association of India (AAI) has demanded that the government immediately impose a 10% tariff on imported scrap aluminum to protect the domestic metal industry from the impact of dumping of low-quality scrap aluminum. The Association pointed out that the current 2.5% tariff has led to a 24% increase in the total amount of aluminum imports in the country, resulting in a foreign exchange expenditure of up to $7 billion, making India a dumping ground for foreign waste, posing a significant security and environmental risk. Therefore, the Association seeks to impose a 10% tariff on imported scrap as a strong deterrent to dumping. In addition, the Association also seeks to raise the import tariff on primary aluminum to 10% to 15% to prevent other countries from disposing of their products in India; at the same time, it requests the government to provide RoDTEP rates for aluminum from economic special zones and export-oriented units (EOUs), and reduce the tariff on key materials to 2.5%, in order to reduce the production cost of aluminum and improve the cost competitiveness of the industry.

신장 보위안 알루미늄 유한공사는 연산 15만 톤 규모의 신형 알루미늄 반제품 프로젝트 건설을 전력으로 추진하고 있다. 신장 준둥 경제기술개발구 화샤오산 알루미늄 다운스트림 산업단지에 위치한 이 프로젝트는 총투자 1억 8천만 위안, 부지 면적 64무이다. 총 건축 면적 2만 3천 제곱미터의 표준화 생산 작업장 2개 동을 건설할 계획이다. 생산 라인 구성 측면에서 이 프로젝트는 알루미늄 봉 생산 라인 2개, 주조 압연 알루미늄 코일·스트립 생산 라인 8개, 냉간 압연 알루미늄 코일·스트립 생산 라인 1개를 갖추게 된다. 프로젝트가 전면 완공되어 가동되면 연간 알루미늄 선 6만 톤, 알루미늄 코일 9만 톤의 생산 능력을 갖출 것으로 예상된다.
