Car parts manufacturer Marelli announced that its production plant in Crevalcore, Italy, which produces internal combustion engine parts, has become "unsustainable" due to reduced investments from car companies in internal combustion engines, as well as rising prices of raw materials and energy, and will therefore be closed. The plant, which employs around 230 people and produces plastic and aluminum parts, is expected to see further declines in production and revenue if it were to continue operating, with a capacity utilization rate of no more than 30%. As a result, the company plans to transfer the production of plastic parts from the Crevalcore plant to another plant in Italy, while the production of aluminum parts will be outsourced to other companies.
