According to 36Kr, multiple industry chain sources have revealed that NIO is preparing to set up a joint venture with Honeycomb Energy to jointly develop large cylindrical batteries.

It is reported that the preliminary plan is that NIO and Honeycomb Energy will invest in a trial line in Ma'anshan together, and part of the research and development personnel of the two companies will be merged, but the manufacturing and procurement of the two parties will remain independent.

A person close to the industry chain said that the joint venture company is mainly for medium test and development, and the subsequent mass production node may be in 2025.
