SMM Steel reported on September 14th that the total inventory of hot rolled coils this week was 3,609,500 tons, a decrease of 24,200 tons compared to last week, a decrease of 0.66% year-on-year and an increase of 10.54%. Hot coil total inventory finally ended six weeks of accumulation, with a slight reduction in social inventory and an enlarged reduction in plant inventory. On the supply side, hot coil output decreased on a year-on-year basis this week. On the demand side, the price of coils rebounded slightly in the first half of the week, stimulating some terminal purchases and social inventories decreased slightly. Whether the inventory reduction has sustainability remains to be seen.
