The SMM Zinc Industry Conference in 2023: SMM Steel Category Analyst Gudu: On February 8, 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a document to look forward to the work of the steel industry in 2021. It requires the implementation of the "Implementation Measures for Capacity Replacement of the Steel Industry" in 2021 and prohibits the addition of steel capacity. Research and formulate a work plan for capacity reduction, implement a double control policy of capacity and output, and ensure that the national crude steel output will decrease year-on-year in 2021, thus opening the curtain of crude steel flat control in the steel industry. SMM believes that under the guidance of crude steel flat control, it is expected that steel mills will experience centralized production cuts from September to December 2023. According to SMM research, production cuts in August have not yet started, and it is expected that crude steel output from August to December will decrease by about 4.22% year-on-year.
