Ford Motor Company is collaborating with South Korean battery company SK On and positive material production company EcoPro BM to build a positive material factory in Quebec, Canada.
The three companies will invest 900 million US dollars in the factory, which is planned to be put into production in the first half of 2026, with an annual capacity of 45,000 tons of nickel-cobalt-manganese-lithium.
Ford and SK Battery are no strangers to battery manufacturing. In June of this year, the two companies received a $9.2 billion loan from the US Department of Energy to fund the three lithium-ion battery factories in the plan. These three factories are located in Kentucky and Tennessee, and once they start production in 2025, their combined annual output will reach 129 GWh.
