Lithium Carbonate Prices Extend Declines (Aug 17)

SHANGHAI, Aug 17 (SMM) –

The SMM battery-grade lithium carbonate index was 223,799 yuan/mt on August 17, a decrease of 4,072 yuan/mt from the previous working day. Battery-grade lithium carbonate price range was 213,000-240,000 yuan/mt, a decrease of 3,500 yuan/mt from the previous working day; industrial-grade lithium carbonate price range was 203,000-222,000 yuan/mt, a decrease of 3,500 yuan/mt. There are rumours that some battery cell makers are buying lithium carbonate directly. In view of the current supply surplus, spot prices continue to drop.
