Regarding the price gap between N-type and P-type modules, both have sustained a descending trajectory since the beginning of the year. Incomplete statistics from SMM indicate that the average successful bid price for P-type modules fell from 1.78 yuan/w in January to 1.35 yuan/w in July. Concurrently, the average successful bid price for N-type modules decreased from 1.82 yuan/w in January to 1.39 yuan/w in July. The price differential between P-type and N-type modules underwent various oscillations from January to July 2023, typically ranging from 0.01 to 0.07 yuan/w. SMM reports that end-user power stations' tolerance for the premium on N-type modules falls within the 0.08-0.1 yuan/w range. Hence, the current price point for N-type modules has a high acceptability among downstream end-users.
The downward trend in successful bid prices for N-type modules is unmistakable and closely tied to the overall trajectory of the photovoltaic market. The module market is characterized by intense competition, and the production surge of N-type TOPCon modules could soon lead to an imbalance between supply and demand for TOPCon solar cells, potentially prompting a price rise. Given the challenges in reducing prices in the upstream market, N-type module prices are expected to maintain stability.
