On June 2, 2023, China’s State Council held a meeting to extend and optimise purchase tax exemption policy for new energy vehicles (NEVs).
The meeting pointed out that NEVs are an important direction in auto industry transformation and that purchase tax exemption policy for new energy vehicles must be extended so as to better release consumption potential.
The policy was originally due to expire at the end of this year.
Data from CAAM showed that NEVs bucked the downward trend of the auto market in the first quarter this year, and its penetration rate reached 26.1%.
