Weekly Average Discount of High-Grade NPI Stood at 820 yuan/mtu Against Refined Nickel

Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has issued Kepmen ESDM No. 365.K/MB.01/MEM.B/2026, tightening requirements on the use of mining-service contractors by mineral and coal mining companies. Under the regulation, IUP/IUPK holders are required to prioritise licensed mining-service companies (IUJP) located in the same regency/city as the mining operation. The use of subsidiaries or affiliated companies as mining contractors is restricted and requires approval from the Minister of ESDM, including arrangements involving direct shareholding or common ultimate beneficial ownership. Applications are subject to a review process, while exemptions may apply to government-assigned activities, including National Strategic Projects, construction of processing and refining facilities, and activities supporting domestic mineral and coal requirements. For the nickel sector, the regulation does not directly change RKAB quotas or nickel ore pricing. However, nickel mining groups may need to review existing affiliated-contractor arrangements, while the new requirements could affect contractor selection, mining costs and operational arrangements.

필리핀 증권거래소 공시에 따르면, 필리핀 수리가오델노르테에 위치한 히나투안 마이닝 코퍼레이션의 타가나안 니켈 프로젝트는 경제적으로 채굴 가능한 매장량이 2026년 10월 말까지만 상업적 채굴 운영을 지속할 수 있을 것으로 예상된다. 회사는 상업적 운영 종료 계획에 따라 2027년 1월부터 최종 광산 복구 및 폐쇄 계획에 따른 활동을 시작할 예정이다. 히나투안 마이닝은 동사마르주 마니카니 섬 니켈 프로젝트의 운영은 계속할 것이다. 타가나안의 상업적 운영 종료로 11월부터 필리핀 니켈 광석 공급이 감소할 수 있으나, 회사는 현재 계획된 운영 종료가 전체 사업에 중대한 영향을 미치지 않는다고 밝혔다.
