Aluminium Billet Transactions Were Sluggish After The Labour Day Holiday

SHANGHAI, May 6 (SMM) – SMM A00 aluminium prices stood at 18,360 yuan/mt on Friday May 5 and its weekly average price was 18,435 yuan/mt, a drop of 271 yuan/mt from a week ago. Aluminium billet conversion margins mostly rose thanks to the drop in aluminium prices.

South China: The conversion margins of φ90 and φ120 aluminium billets fluctuated around 430 yuan/mt and 335 yuan/mt respectively during the two trading days last week, with the weekly average up 35 yuan/mt and 40 yuan/mt. Supply in Foshan was relatively abundant due to massive arrivals during the holiday. Downstream demand was weak before and after the Labour Day holiday.

East China: Customised billets, such as 6005 specifications, were relatively popular, while demand for regular billets was poor. The weekly average conversion margins of φ90 and φ120 aluminium billets in Wuxi were 510 yuan/mt and 400 yuan/mt respectively, an increase of 70 yuan/mt and 100 yuan/mt.
