SHANGHAI, Apr 19 (SMM) – Considering the persistently high inventories of battery cells and NEVs, as well as uncertainty over future NEV demand, the installed capacity of power battery may fall back in April.
China’s power battery installed capacity stood at 27.8 Gwh in March, up 26% MoM and 30% YoY, rising for the second consecutive month. The increase in power battery installed capacity in March was in line with market expectations and mainly driven by the rush to accomplish quarterly targets towards the quarter-end.
It is worth noting that, the cumulative installed capacity of ternary battery dropped 2.2% YoY to 20.9 Gwh in the first quarter, while that of LFP battery soared 50% YoY to 44.9 Gwh.
