SHANGHAI, Apr 17 (SMM) - Last Friday, the average price of Ni 1.5% ore dipped $1/wmt from the previous Friday to $52/wmt on a CIF basis. Many mines in the Philippines have not yet started mining, resulting in insufficient nickel ore supply in China. On the demand side, NPI prices rose to 1,052 yuan/mtu last week, up 10 yuan/mtu WoW. However, the NPI plants were still not willing to buy nickel ore since the NPI price trend was unpredictable. The traders were at a loss. The NPI plants’ nickel ore purchase prices were low, while the mines held their quotes firm. Short-term CIF prices of Ni 1.5% ore may be stable.
