Power Battery Installed Capacity Adds 36% MoM In Feb Amid Improved Terminal Demand

SHANGHAI, Apr 14 (SMM) - Power battery installed capacity totalled 21.9 GWh in February, up 36% month-on-month and 60% on the year. In detail, the installed capacity of ternary batteries was 6.7 GWh, up 24% MoM and 15% YoY, and that of LFP batteries stood at 15.2 GWh, up 42% MoM and 95% YoY. However, the inventory held by the battery cell markers still stood high in February. The car dealers also carried high in-plant inventory. Companies such as Tesla and Xpeng constantly undercut car prices, and fuel vehicle enterprises also sharply reduced their prices. The act slightly drove up car consumption but aroused a strong wait-and-see sentiment among consumers. The fractional demand gains failed to boost the power battery installed capacity greatly. SMM believes that the power battery installed capacity might have risen slightly in March.
