Bolivia with World's Largest Lithium Reserves to Begin Commercial Development of Lithium Resources, Plans to Export Lithium Batteries from 2026

SHANGHAI, Apr 12 (SMM) - Bolivia's President Luis Arce said on Tuesday that the country could start exporting lithium batteries from 2026 as part of a plan to industrialise vast quantities of "white metal" resources.

Bolivia has the world's largest lithium reserves, estimated at 21 million mt, according to the US Geological Survey, but the country has few industrially produced or commercially viable reserves.

Arce reiterated his call for establishing an alliance in South American Lithium-Triangle area, saying such an alliance could set prices, similar to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
