The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) issued first batch of quotas for rare earth mining, smelting and separation in 2023 on March 24. The quotas stand at 120,000 mt and 115,000 mt respectively.
The quotas for light rare earth mining has increased slightly, while those for heavy rare earth has been slightly lowered.
In terms of rare earth ores, the quotas increased by 19.05% year-on-year compared with 20% in 2022.
