SHANGHAI, Mar 28 (SMM) - According to Reuters, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said during his visit to Kazakhstan that he would help Kazakhstan build an export route independent of Russia, and revealed that the two sides had signed key mineral supply agreements. Cleverly said the two sides discussed possible disruptions to Kazakhstan's crude oil exports and proposed to develop alternative routes, such as the so-called Middle Corridor, which crosses the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. Although Kazakhstan already exports oil via this route, significant investment is required to increase its transport capacity. The two sides signed supply agreements on key minerals such as rare earth, but gave no details. With a population of 20 million, Kazakhstan accounts for half of the world's uranium production, and also has a large number of rare earth deposits, which are minerals that Western countries urgently need.
