Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced last week that Tesla has chosen the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon, located on the US-Mexico border, to build the next “Gigafactory” for the production of next-generation vehicles.
On Monday local time, the governor of the state of Nuevo Leon in Mexico revealed the latest news about this Gigafactory. He revealed that Tesla is about to obtain the final permit to start construction of the new plant in Mexico, and is expected to start producing the first batch of cars in Mexico next year.
