Tianjin: Recycling Capacity of Steel Scrap, Copper Scrap and other Resources will Reach more than 8 Million mt by 2025

On January 4, the Tianjin Municipal People's Government issued the Implementation Plan for the Construction of Waste Materials Recycling System in Tianjin (hereinafter referred to as the Plan). The Plan is guided by the goal of carbon neutrality and the carbon peak, which takes green and low-carbon circular development as the main line to strengthen standardised management of waste materials and improve the processing level and utilisation of renewable resources. Besides, it encourages steel, non-ferrous metals and other production enterprises to extend the recycling, processing and utilisation business and carry out the whole chain operation.

The Plan proposes that by 2025, the system for waste and old materials recycling will be further improved, and the level of resource recycling will be further upgraded. A waste and old materials recycling network system will be basically established.  The recycling capacity of 10 major renewable resources such as steel scrap, copper scrap, aluminium scrap, lead scrap, zinc scrap and battery scrap will reach more than 8 million mt.
