Catastrophic Coal Mine Accident in Inner Mongolia Sent Coal Prices Jumping 

SHANGHAI, Feb 27 (SMM) - Coal prices rose rapidly in the wake of a catastrophic coal mine accident in Inner Mongolia, with the prices of 5,500 kcal coal in northern ports returning to a high level of 1,200 yuan/mt. However, this was not immediately transmitted to the power costs of aluminium smelters with captive power plants as they have not run out of their coal stocks.
