Australian graphite producer Magnis Energy said that it had signed a binding offtake agreement with Tesla to supply Tesla with battery anode materials for at least three months starting in February 2025.
The deal comes as automakers race to secure supplies of critical minerals as the world shifts to decarbonisation and diversified global supply chains.
Australia is stepping up supplies of key ores to the global auto industry. Apart from Magnis, BHP Billiton, Syrah Resources, Liontown Resources and Piedmont Lithium all have stricken supply deals with Tesla.
