On February 10, Minmetals Resources (MMR) announced that LasBambas copper mine has secured supplies of key materials to enable production at a slower pace. However, if critical materials continue to be in shortage in the future, LasBambas will be forced to be closed for maintenance again.
MMR also claimed that the transportation in Peru was blocked due to longstanding nationwide demonstrations and protests, and the inbound and outbound logistics along the southern corridor was also affected.
LasBambas has mobilised its mine security personnel to maintain the order, and so far the property safety has been guaranteed.
