SHANGHAI, May 31 (SMM) - On the evening of May 15, Baichuan Chemical Industry announced that the “20,000 mt/year lithium battery resource utilisation device” implemented by one of its subsidiaries has completed the main body construction, equipment installation, and commissioning. The trial production plan and trial production conditions of the device have been approved by the experts. At present, the project has begun trial production.
According to public information, Baichuan Chemical Industry was established in 2002. It is an enterprise listed on Shenzhen Stock Exchange and specialised in the production of high-tech fine chemical products. According to SMM research, the business of the Baichuan Chemical Industry mainly involves fine chemicals, new materials and new energy. With the rapid development of new energy vehicles and the energy storage industry, the power batteries for new energy vehicles, the new consumption areas and the energy storage industry grow quickly, boosting the demand for lithium battery materials. According to an SMM survey, Baichuan Chemical Industry has built a whole industrial chain of lithium battery material production-lithium battery production-lithium battery recycling. A number of projects have been put into production, which will gradually increase the business proportion of new energy and new materials sectors. In terms of production capacity, Baichuan Chemical Industry plans to produce 582,000 mt of lithium battery materials per year and recycle 300,000 mt of lithium battery materials and waste catalysts per year, including 100,000 mt of anode materials and 100,000 mt of graphitisation capacity per year, of which 20,000 mt of anode materials and 20,000 mt of graphitisation have been put into production.
The “20,000 mt/year lithium battery resource utilisation device” project conforms to the company's development plan and is conducive to improving the company's lithium battery industry chain layout. By changing the material properties of waste lithium batteries and effectively separating and purifying the raw materials, it is possible to realise the safe, environment-friendly and valuable resource recycling of waste lithium batteries. It not only opens up the industrial chain of recycling value utilisation of lithium battery materials such as lithium carbonate and nickel cobalt manganese but also improves the company’s anti-risk ability and core competitiveness.
