SMM12 March 23: Chile's SQM, the world's second-largest lithium miner, has signed a long-term agreement with LG Energy Solution.
The contract, which runs from 2021 to 2029, involves the supply of about 55000 tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent, SQM said. SQM will provide lithium carbonate for batteries and lithium hydroxide for producing high-quality cathodes, which are important components of electric vehicle batteries.
SQM plans to increase production capacity to 180000 tons of lithium carbonate and 30000 tons of lithium hydroxide by 2023.
