SMM12, March 7: according to AFR (Australian Financial Review), IGO plans to acquire Tianqi Lithium's controlling stake in Greenbushes Lithium Mine in Western Australia, and negotiations have entered an advanced stage.
IGO has asked Huaqi and Macquarie Capital to consider options for raising equity to help fund possible deals.
In the first half of this year, when the US mining giant said it was interested in buying all or part of the Greenbushes mine, Kent Masters, the head of Arbor's lithium mining division, said the company was interested in Tianqi Lithium's stake in Greenbushes.
