[Bulgaria plans to add 2.6GW renewable energy capacity by 2030] according to the draft "Sustainable Energy Development Strategy by 2030" posted on the website of the National Parliament, Bulgaria aims to achieve 2645 megawatts of new renewable energy generation capacity by 2050.

SMM: according to the draft "Sustainable Energy Development Strategy by 2030" posted on the website of the National Parliament, Bulgaria aims to generate 2645 megawatts of new renewable energy by 2050.

The new installed capacity includes about 2.3 gigawatts of solar and wind power projects.

In addition, the strategy takes into account the additional nuclear capacity, the feasibility of interconnecting and upgrading gas pipelines in neighboring countries, and the sustainability and substitution of coal-fired power beyond 2030.

At present, Bulgaria's total installed capacity is 12.6 gigawatts, of which non-hydropower renewable energy accounts for 2.3 gigawatts, lignite and hard coal power generation accounts for 4.5 gigawatts, hydropower accounts for 3.2 gigawatts, nuclear power accounts for 2 gigawatts, and natural gas accounts for 600 megawatts.

However, due to the lack of incentives in the past seven years, the development of clean energy such as solar energy in Bulgaria is not ideal, with only 53 gigawatts of solar installed capacity added.
