Volkswagen CEO: Tesla may become the most valuable company in the world.

Published: Jul 30, 2020 08:14

SMM: it is reported that Tesla still made a profit in the second quarter of the epidemic, which even won praise from competitors. Herbert Deiss (Herbert Diess), chief executive of Volkswagen, believes that Tesla is likely to become the company with the highest market capitalization in the world.

In the second quarter, Tesla once again broke analysts' expectations and made a profit against the trend, compared with almost all other car companies that suffered heavy losses as a result of the collapse in sales.

Deiss commented on Tesla's performance on LinkedIn. He first congratulated Tesla on his performance, and then predicted that Tesla, together with Apple and Volkswagen, could become the world's most valuable company in the next five to 10 years: "Elon Musk (Elon Musk) has achieved results that many people find hard to believe. The company has proved that electric cars can be profitable. Tesla will successfully survive the novel coronavirus epidemic crisis and will not suffer quarterly losses. This makes me convinced that in the next five to 10 years, the company with the highest market capitalization in the world will be a travel company, Tesla is possible, and Apple or Volkswagen Group also has potential. "

Mr Deiss's comments came after the new CEO of Volkswagen's Audi brand said that "Tesla was two years ahead of the industry in some key areas of electric car manufacturing". Deiss has also previously implemented a "Tesla catch-up plan" (Tesla catch-up plan), aims to narrow the software gap between Volkswagen and Tesla.

Today, Apple has become one of the most valuable companies in the world, competing with Microsoft and Amazon at the $1.5 trillion level, while Tesla and Volkswagen's market capitalization is far from that.
