SMM7: on July 29, 2020, the Canadian International Trade Court ((CITT)) issued a notice on hot-rolled non-coil carbon steel plates and high-strength low-alloy non-coil steel plates (Certain Hot-rolled Carbon Steel Plate and High-strength Low-alloy Steel Plate)) originating from or imported from Taiwan, Germany, South Korea, Malaysia and Turkey. It is initially ruled that the products involved have caused material damage or threat of material damage to Canada's domestic industry. The specifications of the products involved are 152 inches (3860 mm) ≥ 72 inches (1829 mm) and 114.3 inches (114.3 mm) ≥ 0.375 inches (9.525 mm).
It is reported that on May 27, 2020, the Canadian Border Service (CBSA) launched an anti-dumping investigation against hot-rolled non-coil carbon steel plates and high-strength low-alloy non-coil steel plates originating from or imported from Taiwan, Germany, South Korea, Malaysia and Turkey. The Canadian tax codes of the products involved are 7208.51.00.10, 7208.51.00.93, 7208.51.00.94, 7208.51.00.95, 7208.52.00.10, 7208.52.00.93 and 7208.52.00.96.
According to the latest stainless steel import and export data released by the customs in June, SMM statistics show that the net export of stainless steel in June 2020 is about 45000 tons, down 63% from the previous month and 81% from the same period last year. Of this total, exports were about 224000 tons, down 29000 tons from May and 11.35 percent from the previous month. The import volume is about 179000 tons, an increase of 48000 tons over May's exports, and an increase of 36.93% month-on-month compared with the previous month. Dint SMM believes that Canada's anti-dumping sanctions against Taiwan's hot rolling may be bad for Taiwan's stainless steel export market in the later period.
