South Korea plans to strengthen cooperation with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in the critical minerals sector, advancing joint exploration and technology development for lithium, nickel and cobalt resources. In Kazakhstan, the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM) has signed an agreement with local companies to conduct joint drilling at the Bakennoye lithium deposit and its tailings in 2027. The potential lithium resources are preliminarily estimated at approximately 25,000 tonnes. In Uzbekistan, the two sides will focus on the exploration and development of nickel and cobalt resources in the Sultanbobo area, including R&D on processing and refining technologies and feasibility studies. The cooperation aims to facilitate the participation of Korean companies in subsequent development projects and strengthen the security of South Korea’s critical mineral supply chains.

인도네시아 에너지광물자원부(ESDM)가 2026년 9월 하반기 니켈 광물 기준 가격(HMA)을 공식 발표했다. 9월 하반기 니켈 HMA는 톤당 16,698.00달러로, 9월 상반기 톤당 16,733.33달러 대비 톤당 35.33달러, 즉 0.21% 하락했다. 코발트 HMA는 톤당 52,704.33달러였으며, 철광석 HMA는 톤당 1.47달러, 크롬광석 HMA는 톤당 6.37달러였다. 2026년 9월 15일부터 시행된 에너지광물자원부 장관령 제363.K/MB.01/MEM.B/2026호에 따른 개정 니켈 광석 HPM 산식에 따라 니켈 광석 HPM은 다음과 같다. · Ni 1.2%: 습윤톤당 24.89달러로, Ni 1.2% 이하 등급에 대한 신규 HPM 산식 기준 습윤톤당 20.77달러 하락. · Ni 1.3%: 습윤톤당 49.20달러로, 습윤톤당 0.69달러 하락. · Ni 1.4%: 습윤톤당 53.83달러로, 습윤톤당 0.24달러 하락. · Ni 1.5%: 습윤톤당 58.50달러로, 습윤톤당 0.25달러 하락. · Ni 1.6%: 습윤톤당 63.38달러로, 습윤톤당 0.26달러 하락.
