SHANGHAI, Jul. 4 (SMM) – Another six nickel ore mining firms in Surigao are now being audited by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), according to MindaNews.
In 2015, ores from the six firms totaled 18.31 million dry tonnes or 230,000 tonnes in nickel content, accounting for 56.68 per cent and 54.92 per cent of the total, respectively, according to the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB).
“Impact from the news will be only on psychological level, as the six firms will very likely pass the checks,” SMM says.
Philippines Close Seven Mining Operations
The six firms are Marc Ventures Development Corporations, Clarence T. Pimentel Mining Corporation, and Carrascal Nickel Corporation, all in Surigao del Sur, and Platinum Group Metals Corporation, Adnama Mining Corporation and Taganito Mining Corporation, and Hinatuan Mining Corporation in Surigao del Norte.
Greenstone Resources Mining Corporation Inc. is also being audited, but the company is mining gold and silver.
