ABU DHABI (Scrap Monster): According to most recent data published by the World Steel Association (World Steel), the crude steel production by the Middle East region increased by 5.3% during the month of June ’15 year-on-year. The region’s crude steel output totaled 2.463 Million tonnes during June this year, as compared with 2.339 Million tonnes during the same month a year before.
The total crude steel production by Iran during June was 1.428 Million tonnes, marginally up by 1.5% in comparison with the June 2014 production of 1.408 Million tonnes. Qatar produced 230,000 tonnes of crude steel, considerably lower by 10.2% when compared to 256,000 tonnes production achieved during June 2014. Meantime, Saudi Arabia’s crude steel output climbed higher over the previous year at 540,000 tonnes during June this year. The total crude steel production by the UAE during June was 265,000 tonnes, significantly higher by 42.3% in comparison with the June 2014 production of 186,000 tonnes.
The cumulative crude steel output by the Middle East region during the initial sive months of current year totaled 14.274 Million tonnes, 2.9% higher when compared with the output of 13.868 Million tonnes during the corresponding six-month period in 2014.
