Japan stainless steel exports dropped in April

According to latest data released by the Japanese Ministry of Finance (MoF), the country’s stainless steel exports declined during the month of April this year.

TOKYO (Scrap Monster): According to latest data released by the Japanese Ministry of Finance (MoF), the country’s stainless steel exports declined during the month of April this year. This is when compared with the exports during the previous month.
 
Japan’s stainless steel exports during the month of April totaled 90,587 tons, dropping by 18.5% from the previous month. The country’s stainless steel exports had totaled 111,096 tons during March this year.
 
The largest export destination of Japanese stainless steel was China. The exports to China totaled 16,856 tons, constituting nearly one-fifth of the total stainless steel exports by Japan during the month. The exports from Japan to China dropped by 19.9% when compared with the exports during March 2015. In second place was South Korea with total imports of 18,715 tons. The stainless steel exports to South Korea declined by 11.2% month-on-month. The third largest export destination was Taiwan. The country’s imports of Japanese stainless steel totaled 12,483 tons, decreasing by 4.4% over the previous month.
 
The average export price of stainless steel from the country during Apr ‘15 was $3,357 per ton, falling marginally by 1.9% when compared with the previous month. The exports of stainless steel generated total revenue of $341 million during the month, comparatively lesser than $380.23 million recorded during the previous month.
