Taiwanese containerized scrap import prices remain stable at $223 a ton

Prices for containerized Taiwanese imports of HMS # 1&2 80:20 remained stable at $223 a ton CFR Taiwan port during last week, as per the latest figures from The Steel Index.

TAIPEI (Scrap Register): Prices for containerized Taiwanese imports of HMS # 1&2 80:20 remained stable at $223 a ton CFR Taiwan port during last week, as per the latest figures from The Steel Index.

There is currently a significant disparity between bid and offer prices as buyers are unwilling to transact at levels above $230 a ton.

For Live Chinese Scrap Prices Log on to Scrap Register

Despite orders for finished long products, prices for domestic scrap and finished steel continues to fall.

Starting in June, mills will begin to cut down production and inevitably demand for scrap will fall.

With this being the case, mills are in no hurry to buy and market sentiment remains depressed.
