According to the SMM survey, the weekly production of silicon enterprises in Xinjiang (accounting for 76% of capacity) was 20,540 mt, with a weekly operating rate of 61%, showing a slight decline WoW.

According to the SMM survey, the weekly production of silicon enterprises in Xinjiang (accounting for 76% of capacity) was 20,540 mt, with a weekly operating rate of 61%, showing a slight decline WoW. Among the large plants in Xinjiang, approximately 12 electric arc furnaces that were shut down resumed production last week. However, overall production and operating rates still showed a slight decline WoW, while other producers in Xinjiang maintained basically stable operating rates.

The weekly production of silicon enterprises in Yunnan (accounting for 30% of capacity) was 3,895 mt, with a weekly operating rate of 46%, also showing a slight decline WoW. Some silicon enterprises within the sample slightly reduced production during the week due to rising costs and average demand for silicon metal recently. However, the overall operating rates within the sample showed relatively small changes, remaining at a low level.

The weekly production of silicon enterprises in Sichuan (accounting for 32% of capacity) was 1,290 mt, with a weekly operating rate of 20%, showing a slight decline WoW. Only a few silicon enterprises in Sichuan were in operation, and further production cuts occurred among those in operation during the week. It is expected that production cuts will continue among operating silicon enterprises in Sichuan this week. Currently, operating rates in Sichuan remain at extremely low levels.

【SMM Analysis】Port Inventories Surge to Highs, Chromite Prices See Divergent Adjustments
In the spot market, high-priced long-term contracted cargoes arrived at ports in the early stage with high cargo receiving costs. Domestic traders showed a strong willingness to prop up prices, driving continuous hikes in chromite quotations. However, downstream demand remained sluggish. Coupled with persistently high shipments and a notable inventory build-up, selling pressure intensified, slowing the upward momentum of spot chromite prices.

Manganese-based Battery Materials: Differentiated Trends, Cost-Supported Stability
This week, China’s domestic manganese-based battery materials market has shown a differentiated operation trend. The price of battery-grade manganese tetroxide has slightly declined, the price of electrolytic manganese dioxide has slightly increased, and lithium manganate has maintained a weak balance of supply and demand.
