The Ningxiang Municipal People's Government in Hunan Province announced an environmental impact assessment approval decision for a Hunan company’s power battery recycling capacity expansion project. The total investment is 67.6 million yuan. The expansion mainly adds two processing lines for un-filled batteries and scraps with a total capacity of 20,000 t/a, increasing the waste lithium battery cell pretreatment scale from the existing 8,100 t/a to 20,000 t/a. It will also add a low-temperature drying safety process and adopt a lithium bicarbonate method to produce lithium carbonate, raising lithium carbonate capacity from 3,000 t/a to 7,000 t/a. After the expansion, the facility can produce 13,150 tons of NCM precursor and 7,000 tons of battery-grade lithium carbonate annually.
