Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On December 16, Hongqi, the premium brand under FAW Group, officially put the HS6 PHEV, a new plug-in hybrid SUV positioned at the upper end of its lineup, onto the market. The model is offered in three variants, with official guidance prices ranging from 178,800 yuan to 228,800 yuan.

Positioned as a next-generation flagship five-seat SUV, the HS6 PHEV places strong emphasis on design rooted in what Hongqi describes as an "Eastern aesthetic." At the front, distinctive headlamps paired with slender daytime running lights create a highly recognizable lighting signature, while a closed-off grille accented with chrome detailing reinforces the vehicle's upscale character.

Along the sides, flowing lines give the SUV a sense of motion, while the rear design emphasizes strength and athleticism. Feather-shaped taillights and a roof-mounted spoiler further enhance its sporty presence. The HS6 PHEV rides on a 2,925 mm wheelbase, underscoring its positioning as a large, spacious SUV.

Inside, the cabin adopts a technology-forward layout with extensive use of soft-touch materials throughout key contact areas. A 15.6-inch central touchscreen is paired with an equally sized passenger display, both offering high-resolution visuals. The infotainment system supports multiple smartphone connectivity solutions and enables four-zone voice recognition, allowing occupants to interact with the vehicle more naturally.

Practicality is also a clear focus. The interior features as many as 31 storage compartments, while a standard 6-liter smart refrigerator capable of both cooling and heating adds everyday convenience for storing drinks and food.

Powering the HS6 PHEV are two plug-in hybrid configurations, both built around a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, paired either with a single motor or a dual-motor setup. Combined system output reaches 168 kW for the lower configuration and up to 369 kW for the higher-performance version. Depending on the trim, CLTC-rated battery-powered range is quoted at 148 km, 225 km or up to 248 km. Advanced driver assistance functions for highway driving come standard across the range, with an urban navigation assist system available as an option.
