US Fed's Beige Book: Economic Activity Stagnant, Inflation Persists

[SMM US Fed Survey Report Update] The latest Beige Book survey released by the US Fed indicated that economic activity across most regions of the nation showed almost no significant changes in recent weeks. The report noted that feedback from various Fed districts suggested consumer spending remained flat or declined as wage growth for many households failed to keep pace with rising prices. The Beige Book also highlighted widespread price increases, with 10 districts reporting "mild or modest" inflation levels, while two others experienced "strong input price growth." As tariff impacts gradually permeated the economy, businesses raised the selling prices of goods and services, at least partially, to offset higher costs.
