Beijing (Gasgoo)- Chery Automobile's JETOUR brand on January 13 announced the launch of its new high-end off-roader series, the JETOUR Zongheng (name in Chinese pinyin), with a debut launch event scheduled on January 22 at 7:00 PM.

According to the China National Intellectual Property Administration, Chery Automobile has applied for trademarks of "JETOUR Zongheng G900," "JETOUR Zongheng G700," and "JETOUR Zongheng F700" (original trademarks are in Chinese characters), suggesting these names may be reserved for the upcoming models in the new high-end product series.

While JETOUR has released several light off-road vehicle models in recent years, including the JETOUR Traveler, Shanhai T1, and Shanhai T2, these models fall short of high-end luxury positioning. As previously stated by the company, the JETOUR Zongheng lineup represents a premium off-road product series featuring "cutting-edge off-road technology" and a "luxurious driving experience." The new lineup and possibly its first model will be revealed during the January 22 event.

On November 8 last year, Vice President of Chery Automobile and President of JETOUR, Li Xueyong, announced JETOUR's ambitious plan to develop numerous off-roader models, including four light off-road vehicles, three robust off-road vehicles, and one to two luxury off-road vehicles.

Mr. Li emphasized JETOUR's vision to become the world's leading hybrid off-road brand, stating, "With your support, there's Land Rover in the UK, Jeep in the US, and JETOUR in China!"

[Automotive: Toyota Decides To Halt Development Of Certain Models]
Toyota Motor Corporation has decided to halt the development of its next-generation battery electric vehicles, specifically targeting a sedan model for its luxury brand Lexus that was originally planned to commence production in mid-2027. This vehicle, featuring fast-charging capabilities and longer cruising range, was showcased at the Japan Mobility Show in October 2023. Initially planned for market launch in 2026, its production start was later postponed to 2027. Over the past year, Toyota's global electric vehicle sales exceeded 190,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 42.4%. However, the decision by the Trump administration in the US to eliminate tax incentives for electric vehicle purchases has created adverse market conditions.
