Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BMW Group recently unveiled its 2024 sales figures in the Chinese market, reporting a total delivery of 714,500 vehicles under both BMW and MINI brands. This number showcases a 13.4% year-on-year drop compared to the previous year.

Among the highlights, the China-made BMW X5 has achieved annual sales of nearly 90,000 units, while the all-new BMW 5 Series was maintaining monthly sales exceeding 10,000 units through the fourth quarter of 2024.

In the battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment, the group saw full-year sales of its BMW- and MINI-branded BEVs rise by 7.7% year-on-year, accounting for 15% of its total sales in China.

As of 2024, BMW Group had delivered over 400,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in the Chinese market.

In 2025, the BMW Group plans to pay close attention to the Chinese market across all business areas. It is set to introduce over 10 new BMW-branded models, alongside multiple MINI models and BMW Motorrad models. Notably, the all-new BMW X3 Long-wheelbase Edition is set to hit the market in February, featuring upgraded interiors and powertrain. Additionally, the high-performance BMW M series will expand its lineup beyond the all-new BMW M235L Four-door coupe.

On the R&D front, BMW Group plans to unveil the BMW Neue Klasse models in the country this year. At the CES 2025, the group presented the new BMW Panoramic iDrive system. The product is equipped with the group's in-house developed new BMW Operating System X, with 70% of its source code developed and optimized in China to better meet local user preferences.

In the realm of intelligent driving, the BMW Neue Klasse models will feature its latest advanced driving assistance system, with deep involvement of BMW China's R&D team.

BMW Group also makes strides in its green energy strategy. Since 2019, the group has capitalized on renewable electricity for vehicle production at BMW Brilliance's Shenyang production base, with geothermal energy introduced for heating in 2024. In 2023, BMW Brilliance reduced per-vehicle CO2 emissions to 0.18 tonnes and lowered water consumption per vehicle to1.72 cubic meters. Additionally, the group has achieved a closed-loop recycling for retired batteries of all BMW BEV models sold in China.
