Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On October 16, 2024, United Automotive Electronic Systems Co., Ltd. ("UAES"), a joint venture between Bosch and SAIC Motor-backed Zhong-Lian Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd., celebrated the inauguration of Phase III of its Taicang plant, according to a post on UAES’ WeChat account.

This expansion signifies the full completion of UAES' new energy vehicle (NEV) powertrain project in Taicang city, Jiangsu Province. With the new facility operational, UAES aims to achieve annual sales exceeding 10 billion yuan.

Dr. Stefan Hartung, chairman of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH, congratulated UAES on this milestone and highlighted it as another achievement in the deepening collaboration between Bosch and SAIC Motor. He remarked that China, as the world's largest automobile market, is leading the transition toward electrification and smart technologies, and Bosch is committed to supporting China's NEV development goals.

Wang Xiangyuan, Secretary of the Taicang Municipal Party Committee, praised UAES as a result of the strong partnership between Bosch and SAIC Motor. Since establishing its presence in Taicang in 2017, the company has continually expanded its investments, achieving exponential growth in sales. The completion of the 5-billion-yuan Taicang NEV Powertrain Project is a significant step in helping Taicang develop into a major NEV industry hub with a potential market value of hundreds of billions of yuan.

The newly completed Phase III facility spans approximately 77,000 square meters and includes state-of-the-art cleanrooms, an energy center, and a testing building. It is equipped to produce flat wire (X-Pin) motors and second-generation electric axles, with one production line for electric axles and another for motors already in operation.

Since its establishment in 2018, the UAES Taicang plant has become a pivotal production base for NEV components, manufacturing critical parts such as electric axles, motors, and power modules. With the completion of Phase III, the facility now covers a total area of 240 mu (160,000 square meters), featuring building area of around 130,000 square meters. Once Phase III reaches full production capacity, UAES expects to employ over 1,800 staff members at the Taicang site and achieve sales surpassing 10 billion yuan.
