Qinghai Qingyu HVDC Phase II 900,000 kW Photovoltaic Project Completed and Put into Operation

December 24, according to the China Three Gorges Corporation, the Qinghai Qingyu HVDC Phase II 900,000 kW photovoltaic project was completed and put into operation on December 24. This project is located in the Republic County of Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province and is one of the large-scale wind and photovoltaic base projects focusing on desert, Gobi, and desert areas. The completion and production of the project will provide strong support for Qinghai to create a highland of clean energy industry. It is understood that the total installed capacity of the project is 900,000 kW, covering an area of 23,131 acres. The project uses all flat single-axis tracking technology, and compared with traditional fixed brackets, the power generation system efficiency can be increased by about 11%. After completion, the average annual power generation is about 2.1 billion kWh, which is equivalent to saving about 640,000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.74 million tons.
