A union representative revealed to the media on Monday that around 400 train drivers from BHP Billiton's West Australian Iron Ore Rail Department will begin "restrained" strike action later this week. Greg Busson, Secretary of the Australian Mining and Energy Union, said that from Friday, train drivers from the West Australian Iron Ore Rail Department will no longer use BHP Billiton's application to change the roster, meaning that if the world's largest miner wishes to change working times, it must contact each worker individually. Greg Busson added that the train drivers are trying to show some restraint, voting to start action at a lower level rather than disrupting operations through a strike.
