Construction of Sweden's largest solar power plant has begun, with French renewable energy producer Neoen and Swedish solar project developer Alight starting work on the 100MW Hultsfred facility in the Småland region of southeastern Sweden. The project, located at the Hultsfred airport runway, is expected to be operational by 2025, supplying the local grid system E.ON.
The project has also signed a solar power purchase agreement (PPA) with Swedish fashion retail group H&M, which will buy 95% of the renewable energy produced by the plant. H&M's goal is to achieve 100% renewable energy supply by 2030.
