On September 15th, Siemens Mobility successfully completed the first test run of the Mireo Plus H hydrogen fuel cell train in Bavaria, Germany, marking an important step towards achieving zero-carbon targets in the field of rail transport in the state. The train is scheduled to start passenger service between Augsburg and Fussen and Augsburg and Posenberg in mid-2024 to promote sustainable railway development.
Mireo Plus H is based on the Siemens Mireo train platform and is equipped with two roof-mounted fuel cells and one lithium-ion battery. The hydrogen energy supply system is combined with electric drive to provide 1.7MW of traction power, acceleration up to 1.1m/s2, and a maximum speed of 160km/h. The train's single-tank hydrogen fuel range is 1000-1200 kilometers and refueling takes only 15 minutes.
