China's New Ship Orders In May Rank First In The World

According to data released by Clarkson, a British shipbuilding and shipping industry analysis agency, last month, global ship orders were 2.06 million corrected gross tons (CGT), a year-on-year decrease of 36%.

SHANGHAI, Jun 8 (SMM) – According to data released by Clarkson, a British shipbuilding and shipping industry analysis agency, last month, global ship orders were 2.06 million corrected gross tons (CGT), a year-on-year decrease of 36%.

China ranked first with 1.41 million CGT, and South Korea ranked second with 510,000 CGT.

In terms of the number of ships, South Korea and China respectively undertook 17 and 52 orders, and there is a big gap between the two.
