SHANGHAI, May 22 (SMM) - Last week, the weekly average discount of high-grade NPI stood at 601 yuan/mtu against refined nickel, shrinking 108 yuan/mtu from a week ago. Nickel prices lost momentum since imported pure nickel supply might burgeon greatly and the US Fed might raise the rate in June. In terms of NPI, the prices dropped as constant spot arrivals at ports expanded supply while demand from the stainless steel mills shrank. SMM survey showed that the price decline in pure nickel was faster than that in NPI. The discounts of high-grade NPI against pure nickel will continue to shrink.
