SHANGHAI, May 16 (SMM) - The average operating rate of secondary aluminium alloy producers stood at 56.1% in April, down 3.1 percentage points MoM, but up 12.17 percentage points YoY. Weakening demand forced most enterprises to lower their operating rates. The auto industry, the biggest downstream sector of secondary aluminium alloy, underperformed this year, taking a toll on new orders at secondary aluminium alloy plants. In order to ease inventory pressure, a large number of secondary aluminium alloy plants cut or halted production. The year-on-year increase in the operating rates was due to severe impact in the same period last year when Covid broke out again in many parts of China.
