SHANGHAI, Feb 23 (SMM) - A large-scale collapse occurred in an open-pit coal mine, Xinjing Coal Industry, in Alxa League, Inner Mongolia, China. And staff and vehicles were buried. The Inner Mongolia Bureau of the National Mine Safety Supervision has launched the first-level rescue. The related rescue work is underway.
The collapse has resulted in four deaths, six injuries, and 49 people missing. The six injured people are receiving careful treatment.
The coal mine where the incident happened was transformed into an open-pit coal mine in 2012. It was shut down for three years before, and production and construction resumed in April 2021.
