Indonesia Evaluating Potential Negative Impacts of Restricting Tin Ingot Exports

According to foreign media on January 31, Ridwan Djamaluddin, a senior official of Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mining, said in an interview on Tuesday that Indonesia's preparations for restricting tin ingot exports are "systematic" in order to avoid any negative impact. He said the government was assessing the possible negative impact of restricting tin ingot exports.

Indonesia is currently the world's largest exporter of refined tin. The country's president, Joko Widodo, said last year that plans are underway to ban the export of tin ingots in the future so that the deep processing of tin remains in the country. The country is planning to ban the export of unprocessed ore from June 2023 and is pushing to build ore processing facilities domestically.
