SMM, Jan. 5: entering the new year, lithium-related materials continue to increase after a surge in the second half of 2021. As of January 5, the average daily spot price of domestic battery-grade lithium carbonate rose 10, 000 yuan / ton to 288000 yuan / ton, an increase of 433.3% over the same period in 2021, according to the latest data from SMM. Battery-grade lithium hydroxide also ushered in a jump again after a brief trimming yesterday, rising 8000 yuan / ton a day.

Not only that, spot prices of lithium metal and spodumene concentrate (6% last CIF China) rose on Synchronize. Lithium metal continued unabated after rising 60, 000 yuan per ton for two consecutive trading days, rising another 60, 000 yuan to 1.455 million yuan / ton, or 4.3% in a single day. As for spodumene concentrate (6% minute CIF China), it rose US $100 / ton today to reach the price of 2250 yuan / ton.

In contrast to the performance of the spot market, the situation of the stock market is diametrically opposed to the situation in which spot prices are constantly rising. Whether it is the concept of lithium battery or the trend of the salt lake lithium extraction concept plate in the past two trading days, the trend is not very optimistic. Quite a few points before rushed to too high to start the pullback posture.

In fact, this situation is related to the notice on the promotion and application of financial subsidy policy for new energy vehicles in 2022 jointly issued by the Ministry of political Affairs and other four departments. It is mentioned that the subsidy standard for new energy vehicles in 2022 will decline by 30% on the basis of 2021. Stimulated by this news, a number of automobile manufacturers, including Tesla, Volkswagen, Nezha and GAC Ean, have successively released the news of price increases.

However, for this policy, a number of industry insiders have said that the decline of the subsidy policy is expected. Xu Haidong, deputy chief engineer of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, believes that the amount of subsidy policy currently implemented is not high, and the impact of a 30% decline next year is not great. At the same time, although the battery cost is high, the final decision on the price is still the market factor, and with the expansion of the new energy vehicle market as a whole, the cost will be further amortized. Therefore, the newly issued subsidy policy will not bring significant changes to the new energy vehicle market in 2022.

Ouyang Minggao, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and chairman of the China Electric vehicle Association of 100, also agrees, saying, "at present, the sales of new energy vehicles have basically entered the market-oriented track, and the impact of subsidies is very small." He believes that although there are no subsidies, non-subsidy policies such as double points, carbon emissions and travel restrictions will still work. At the same time, with the rise in oil prices, the cost of using fuel vehicles is higher than that of electric vehicles.

The head of a domestic independent new energy brand also said that the market has long expected the decline of subsidies, but the policy will promote the growth of the new energy vehicle market in 2022. Shen Hui, founder of Weimar, also said, "this is good for us."

Dongxing Securities also said that the domestic new energy vehicle market is turning to demand-driven, 2022 new energy vehicle subsidy policy is in line with market expectations, and does not change the general direction of industry development.

Citic Securities affirmed that the decline of subsidies for new energy vehicles was in line with expectations and continued to maintain the high-profile judgment of the new energy vehicle industry in 2022, and the current time continued to suggest that we should seize the high-quality targets of the global electrified supply chain, especially Tesla, Ningde era, LG chemical supply chain, as well as the opportunity of high-quality vehicles.

And the industry is optimistic about the new energy sector, from the rising prices of lithium materials and the recent frequent actions of a number of lithium industry chain enterprises can also see one or two. Recently, Lanxiao Technology and Jiuwu Hi-Tech have received notice of signing projects related to Jinhai Lithium Industry Lithium Salt, among which Lanxiao Technology received an invitation for "Jinhai Lithium Industry (Qinghai) 10000 tons Lithium Carbonate EPC Purchasing Project", while Jiuwo High-Tech received a notice about "Jinhai Lithium Industry (Qinghai) Co., Ltd. 1000 tons / year Lithium Chloride pilot EPC Purchasing Project".

In addition, on the morning of December 31st, Yongtai Gaoxin, a subsidiary of Yongtai Technology Holdings, held an annual production ceremony of the 6000 tons LiPF6 project and the start of the 134000 tons liquid lithium salt project in Shaowu City, Fujian Province. On January 4, the integrated base of 200000 tons of lithium battery anode materials was officially started in Meishan. On the same day, the second phase of the project of Lithium Iron Phosphate, the cathode material of lithium storage batteries, was also officially started by Lithium Source Technology Sichuan Power Co., Ltd. SMM is also very optimistic about the price trend of lithium carbonate in the future. SMM believes that although the Qinghai region may open up supply in 2022, the price of lithium carbonate may remain high. Trading volume is expected to increase in early January, lithium carbonate prices may rise significantly. With the rapid upward price of lithium carbonate, in the context of some lithium iron manufacturers increasing the inquiry for lithium hydroxide, battery-grade lithium hydroxide will also continue to catch up with lithium carbonate.
